IDEACreated in 1995, the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), an intergovernmental organization with member states from all continents, has a mandate to support sustainable democracy worldwide. IDEA operates at an interface between those who analyse and monitor trends in democracy and those who engage directly in political reform or act in support of democracy at home and abroad. It operates at international, regional and national level, working in partnership with a range of institutions.
Cyber Media provided the initial CommonSpot build which formed the foundation of the new Web site. The Web site was designed in-house with guidance from Cyber Media, who also provided on-site training to IDEA staff in Stockholm, Sweden.
CommonSpot was selected for its flexibility and features, especially its ability to handle multilingual content; an issue of particular importance to any organisation operating at international level. Accessibility was also a major concern and the Web site was designed with accessibility in mind. The site flawlessly operates across multiple platforms and browsers, complies with all priority guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and is 'Section 508' and 'Bobby A' approved.
