Luxury travel agent Abercrombie & Kent launch new honeymoon application

Having been working in close partnership with Abercrombie & Kent for the past few years, our latest project concerned the development of a new, and much improved, honeymoon application. This was developed for the main luxury travel UK website to simplify the gift list management process for all stakeholders.
The bride and groom are, of course, the priority. The honeymoon application is designed to make their life as easy as possible. It enables them to quickly and easily list the gifts and experiences they have selected, send e-invites to their wedding guests, print a list of all contributions and messages made to their account, and email guests to thank them.
Guests have the choice to contribute towards a specific gift or experience that the bride and groom would like to have on their honeymoon, and can send personalised messages to the happy couple.
To oversee the whole process, and ensure everything is going smoothly, A&K agents are provided with a comprehensive control panel. This allows them to create and administer accounts, issue login details to clients, view summaries of transactions, and generally manage the whole system.
Given the fixed delivery date that had to tie in with the launch event and press articles, this was a time sensitive project. Our experience and expertise in custom application developments ensured that the project was delivered on time, to specification and budget.
To ensure code integrity we followed a robust development methodology throughout; and used rapid prototyping via Protoshare (an easy-to-use, web-based prototyping tool) to collaborate with A&K in real time and create the visual requirements.
Following completion of the honeymoon application, we had to retrieve all existing data (accounts, transactions, etc.) and import into the new database. To achieve this an automated script was developed and run just before switching from the old to the new application, ensuring a smooth transition.
The new honeymoon application enables A&K to further strengthen their offering by adding value to the service; whilst at the same time enabling A&K staff to manage the whole process more efficiently.
