East Staffordshire Borough Council scored a full 21 points in the web-based survey of local authority planning websites carried out by Peter Pendleton & Associates Ltd. from the 31st December 2005 on behalf The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) and The Scottish Executive.
The survey’s aim was to review the availability and accessibility of online planning information and services of all local authority planning websites in England Wales and Scotland. It was carried out from the perspective of the web-user and aimed to assess the needs of both regular and potential one-off users of council planning services.
The websites were judged according to 21 carefully selected criteria – from the ease of access to planning pages, to the availability of downloadable forms and online payment systems – and one point was awarded for each criterion met.
Only 43% of Local Authorities achieved the maximum score and East Staffordshire Borough Council is very pleased by this accomplishment. Cyber Media received a special mention for developing the website in an internal memo that was circulated following the announcement of the results.
