Five years in the running and still going strong, Youth Access update their website and service directory
Monday, November 9, 2009
Youth Access is the national membership organisation for young people’s information, advice, counselling and support services (YIACS). Through their 200 members nationwide, they are the largest provider of advice and counselling services in the UK, dealing with over 1 million enquiries a year on issues as diverse as sexual health, mental health, relationships, homelessness and benefits.
We have been working with Youth Access for over 5 years, having designed and developed their first website and membership database back in 2004. Throughout this time we have been supporting Youth Access, and have delivered minor updates and improvements to the site.
The first site was built on CommonSpot Content Server. Having used it for over five years, Youth Access were keen to upgrade to the latest version: CommonSpot 5.0. This version features a host of updates including a new and intuitive authoring interface, RSS feeds, Blogs, Wikis, and XML publishing and rendering capabilities.
The new site is more user friendly, featuring an updated contemporary design and re-organised content. The directory was also updated with a cleaner design and the addition of a map search that enables users to quickly find their local service just by clicking on a map of the UK and zooming in.
