Engagement website promoting the responsible enjoyment of Cannock Chase
Cannock Chase attracts many of thousands of visitors across its 6,800 hectares every year.
Our brief was to create a new highly-engaging website to promote key visitor attractions, sustainable walking routes and mountain bike trails and to raise awareness of the delicate flora and fauna unique to the Chase.
We kicked things off by putting together a mood board of creative ideas, inspiring imagery and exemplars to inform the design process.
We worked in collaboration with the Cannock Chase Special Area of Conversation Partnership to review and refine the mood board at the project’s inaugural planning meetings.
The preferred ideas taken forward were then used to create a design concept rich in bespoke illustration and iconography.
The website’s design has natural accents in a sketched style which deliver a warm and welcoming look and feel.
We developed key landing pages that enable the Partnership to present targeted information to different user groups, including mountain bikers, dog walkers and families.
The new website also enables effective promotion the Chase’s six key visitor centres. The visitor centres provide activities for all tastes and interests - from the historical draw of the Shugborough Estate, the fabulous accessible footpaths at the Wolseley Centre, to the adrenaline junkie pulls of the ‘Monkey’ mountain bike trail and Go Ape.
Throughout the website, the Partnership is able to promote the vital importance of enjoying the Chase responsibly and a ‘Proud to Protect’ area promotes the Cannock Chase Code and provides fascinating insight into its unique habitats with integrated image galleries, animations and videos.
At the heart of the new Cannock Chase website is our innovative HelloParks platform which delivers powerful mapping features.
HelloParks enables visitors to explore the Chase’s offer, points of interest and understand areas of sensitive ecology within an engaging map interface. Users can interact with any element on the map to find out more and a location-aware feature empowers visitors to follow plotted trails.
HelloParks also provides the Partnership with a simple admin interface where it can plot new area boundaries, routes and points of interest directly onto the map without technical GIS knowledge or software.
The Cannock Chase website is an inspiring and engaging online focal point that promotes the responsible use of a superb visitor attraction.
It also provides the Partnership with a strong brand identity and acts as an effective funnel to draw visitors to key landing points and away from ecologically sensitive areas at risk from over use.
