An Innovative Digital Platform

An Innovative Digital Platform

Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (a partnership of three local authorities working together with Sport England) wanted to create an innovative digital platform to promote active lifestyles, health and wellbeing in planning for the built environment.

We were selected on the strength of our experience in the health and wellbeing sector and expertise at public engagement websites and WordPress development.

Health and Wellbeing Engagement

Health and Wellbeing Engagement

We wanted to give the Partnership a platform rich in visual and tactile appeal and designed a collection of bright and aspirational illustrations to inject positivity and character in the new platform.

The platform provides guidance and advice on a whole range of health and wellbeing considerations in the built environment, organised into a series of health themes such as Active Travel, Healthy Streets and Air Quality.

We implemented a versatile tagging system to empower the Partnership team to easily publish relevant content to single, or multiple health theme areas. And the same tagging system can also be used by the Partnership to promote and share best practice through case studies.

Planning for Health and Wellbeing

Planning for Health and Wellbeing

The platform principally supports teams and stakeholders involved in the planning of the built environment and we provided a ’My Place’ area that members can access with a registered account.

My Place supports effectively collaboration between stakeholders by enabling members to create and share project idea board spaces. Theses spaces are an ideal way to gather together inspiring imagery and plans to shape health considerations in development proposals.

The My Place area also enables members to upload resources and easily access content they have liked and health themes they are following.

A further feature of the new Healthy Place Making platform is the ability to complete and submit Health Impact Assessments digitally. These assessments provide screening in relation to development proposals to consider direct impact on health and wellbeing.

Project Outcomes

We have really enjoyed working on the project and collaborating with the Partnership’s forward-thinking team and are excited about its ambition to build on the new platform for the benefit of other localities
